Michigan drivers have likely seen the worst of it in terms of gas prices–at least for now. That’s the word from the Michigan AAA in its weekly gas price analysis. The Auto Club said the statewide average is up nine cents from a week ago, but predicts it won’t immediately go higher.
Here in Southwest Michigan, gas prices are 15 to 20 cents less than in metro Detroit and “Up North” vacation areas of the state. The best prices are found in scattered rural counties. Prices are about a dollar more than a year ago, in the depths of the pandemic. But they’re more than a dollar less than the all time highs of eight and ten years ago.
