Help Plan the Future of the Berrien County Parks System

Some people watch things happen. Some make things happen. Then, too, there are those who simply wonder “What happened?” The team at the Berrien County Parks Department is offering you the chance to not only watch things happen, but to help make things happen by providing your input next week.

Berrien County Parks and Recreation officials are seeking your input on the development of the 2020-2024 Berrien County Parks Five Year Plan.  The plan will cover these parks in the system:

  • Rocky Gap
  • Silver Beach
  • Love Creek
  • Madeline Bertrand
  • Paw Paw River
  • Historic Courthouse Square
  • Galien River County Park
  • Plus, the Red Arrow Linear Trail

Park officials have invited the public to share their ideas at an “Open House” style meeting next Wednesday, August 21st, 2019, from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm prior to the regular Berrien County Parks Commission Meeting at the New Buffalo Township Hall. That hall is located at 17425 Red Arrow Highway in New Buffalo.

Parks meetings take place periodically at different locations around the County in order to seek public input and ideas for Berrien County Parks future planning.

You can also send written comments if you are unable to attend. Simply send your thoughts and ideas to:  Berrien County Parks, 701 Main Street, St. Joseph MI, 49085 or you can use email to send your comments by sending electronically to parks@berriencounty.org.  You are asked to please have written or emailed comments in by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 20th, 2019.
