Humane Society Gets Major $700K Yeager Family Challenge Grant

A major new challenge grant designed to finally seal the deal on the much anticipated and long overdue completion of the new Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan shelter is being rolled out today and it is an absolute game changer for the organization. The Yeager family, with support from several other donors including the Hanson family, Steve & Hilda Banyon, Phil & Sue Radics, Eric & Tiffany Jackson, and John & Karin Janick, has announced today a $700,000 challenge grant designed to cap off the $2-Million Capital Building Fund Goal and, at the same time, establish a significant endowment to benefit the Humane Society into the future.

This challenge grant provides a generous two-for-one match for every dollar raised toward the Capital Building Fund. That means that for every dollar donated to the Capital Building Fund (up to $350,000, total), the challenge grant will pay one dollar to the Capital Building Fund and one dollar to the Humane Society endowment fund at the Berrien Community Foundation.

Meeting this challenge will bring a total of more than a million dollars ($1,050,000) to the Humane Society.

In recognition of this challenge grant the new Humane Society shelter will be named the “Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan – Yeager Family Pet Shelter.”
