Hydraulic Maintenance Monday Could Cause Dyckman Ave Bridge Delays

If you plan to be on or over the Black River Channel in South Haven anywhere near the Dyckman Avenue Bridge next Monday, you might want to pre-plan for what could be extended delays due to bridge maintenance that day.

South Haven Department of Public Works officials have announced that the Dyckman Avenue bascule bridge will be opened and closed intermittently on Monday, June 22nd, to allow crews to complete hydraulic system maintenance that day. The activity is slated to consume much of the day from 7am until 5pm.

City staff members say that due to that work, there may be extended periods during which the bridge remains in the open or closed position for longer than normal. Additionally, they tell us that the bridge will not be operating on the regular half-hour schedule everyone is accustomed to, so they ask that you please be patient when navigating that location by either boat on the water or vehicle on the streets.

Anyone with other questions can call the Department of Public Works at 269-637-0737.
