I-94 to Shutdown at Hartford Sunday Morning

If you know now that you need to be on I-94 near Hartford early Sunday morning, just a heads up that you’re going to need to take a detour briefly. The entire highway will be closed — all lanes, both directions — for a short period of time in the middle of the night, which will force you off of the highway in a detour between Hartford and Watervliet.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says there will be a total closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-94 for utility work at Mile Marker 45 in Hartford Township of Van Buren County from 3am until 5am this coming Sunday, April 2nd.

MDOT strongly encourages an alternate route be taken during that time frame. You can see the project map by visiting MDOT’s Mi Drive website at any time.

Considering the hour of the morning that the shutdown will take place, it should minimize the number of motorists impacted by the shutdown, but MDOT wanted to make sure you knew about it ahead of time to either find alternate plans or to speed up or delay your trip accordingly.
