When Bob and Karen Rhoa from St. Joseph entered the world of business together more than 40 years ago as Lake Michigan Mailers, their corporate name made it crystal clear what the nature of their business was. Mailing services. It has been a name that served the company well for those more than four decades. But, the company has evolved dramatically over the years to a huge suite of professional offerings on multiple fronts, and the name simply no longer encompasses the capabilities they bring to the table for businesses large and small. So…the name is changing.
Now headed up by the Rhoa’s son, David Rhoa, Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. has advanced over the years to a broad array of business services and he says they needed a new name to reflect that. At mid-afternoon today, both Rhoa, who is company President, and his company revealed the news in a Facebook post. Here’s what they had to say:
We are excited to announce that Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. will change its name to Marana Group on January 1, 2019.
“Marana” is the Irish word for “think,” and of course, “Group” suggests “team.” Therefore, Marana Group = “Think Team”
This new name and new look better reflects who we are today and who we will be in the future; unrestricted, dynamic, and adaptable. The use of this new brand will provide us with a new umbrella under which we can bring an expanded menu of our data, document, and distribution solutions to an even wider audience.
The best part about this change is what is staying the same. The Rhoa family will continue its ownership and management as we have since the company’s founding more than forty years ago. The people upon whom you and your organization rely will still be here ready to serve. Same company. Same people. New name. New horizons.

Between now and the end of the year, we will begin our transformation to the Marana Group name, logo, and colors. This will mean that everything from the uniforms worn by our associates, to the art on our vehicles, to the banners on our buildings, and the logo on our invoices and emails will be changing. The solutions we provide, and the associates who provide them will remain unchanged.
Rhoa says they “outgrew the name,” which is “too regional, and contains the word mail” in it, but they are far more than that. He admits that too often customers and potential customers would say they had no idea that his firm was capable of doing the myriad things they do.
Lake Michigan Mailers, founded in 1977 in St. Joseph, is a family owned and managed company offering a complete menu of capabilities including:

Reality is that Lake Michigan Mailer customers encompass every industry including businesses and organizations of all sizes. Some have very large budgets for data, document, and distribution solutions while others have very modest budgets. Rhoa says that all of their customers, however, share a common goal; “A desire to minimize the costs of data management, document creation, digital marketing, mail assembly, mailing, printing, and distribution.”
