Lake Michigan Vintners Mark 1st Anniversary Milestone This Weekend

Just one year ago, Lake Michigan Vintners, the winery run by the Lake Michigan College Wine & Viticulture program, opened up shop with a brand new tasting room at the heart of the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail in downtown Baroda. This Memorial Day weekend, in celebration, they are uncorking two new wine releases and hosting a Sunday party.

The new releases are Lake Michigan Vintners 2017 Rose — a limited edition release with only 24 cases produced — and a 2016 Pinot Noir which had only 50 cases produced. If you are not a member of the Lake Michigan Vintners Wine Club, you’ll want to make sure you get in to the tasting room soon, due to those very limited release numbers.

Additionally, the tasting room at 8972 First Street in downtown Baroda will be offering 50-percent discounts on tastings and providing a free logo glass to the first 100 guests on Sunday, May 27th beginning at noon. The anniversary party will run until 8pm that night and will feature the Lake & Farmer Food Truck serving up delicious farm to table fare from 1pm until closing.

The Lake & Farmer menu for the day includes Drunken Pig (Lake Michigan Vintners Braised Pork, Local Maple Bourbon Sauce & Pickled Onion)…Vegan Potato Tacos (Fried Russet Potatoes, Diced Peppers & Onions and Cilantro Lime Cabbage Slaw)…Brisket Tacos (Local Craft Beer Braised Brisket, Michigan Apple Salsa and Smoked Poblano Crema)…and Chilled Mexican Street Corn Salad (Corn, Black Beans, Red Onion and Cotija Cheese).

During the afternoon, the mother & son duo of Matt & Edie Lowe will be playing live music from 3pm until 6pm and Wine Club members will receive a special thank you treat for attending the winery’s one-year celebration.

The May Tasting Room Hours are Thursday through Sunday from noon until 6pm and Sundays from noon until 5pm. They are closed on Memorial Day.

The staff and students of the Lake Michigan Wine & Viticulture program hope to see you on hand for the big celebration and all through the coming summer tasting room season. They have detailed information on all the wineries along the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail in the house and celebrate the work of those dedicated to furthering the reputation of Michigan wines nationally and internationally.
