Lakeland Welcomes New Providers

Lakeland Health is welcoming two new members to the medical staff at two different sites including the Southwestern Medical Clinic and at Hospice at Home. They include Dr. Ian Jackson and Nurse Rebecca Markus.

Southwestern Medical Clinic, a Lakeland Health Affiliate, recently welcomed Ian Jackson, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Jackson is seeing adult patients at the Stevensville practice, located at 5515 Cleveland Avenue.

Dr. Jackson earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and went on to complete his family medicine residency at John Peter Smith Family Medicine Residency Program in Fort Worth, Texas. During his residency, he also completed an additional year of training in obstetrics, obstetric ultrasound, and operative obstetrics. Prior to relocating to southwest Michigan, Dr. Jackson worked at Dayspring Family Health Center in Jellico, Tennessee.

Specially-trained in chronic illness management, Dr. Jackson believes in a holistic approach to health and promotes shared decision making with his patients. He believes in maintaining an open line of communication to make sure that the patient feels comfortable and at ease. Dr. Jackson is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the American Association of Family Practice.

Dr. Jackson says, “I enjoy the variety of conditions I am able to treat in family medicine as well as taking care of all ages and building trusting relationships with my patients.”
