Long-Time Kalamazoo Mechanical Contractor Establishes Satellite Ops in St. Joe

A Kalamazoo mechanical contractor in business for more than three-quarters of a century has established a full-service satellite operation in St. Joseph and already has 14 employees on the local payroll, working to service commercial, industrial, and light commercial industry clients from their new base of operations on Langley Avenue across from Vail Rubber and Clementine’s Too. The company is R.W. LaPine, a third-generation, independently owned and operated contractor headquartered in Kalamazoo for more than 75-years now.

Bill Brown is the new Operations Manager in charge of the office serving the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph area and a list of Who’s Who clients such as Whirlpool, LECO, Walsworth and JVIS. All of his team members in the St. Joseph office are Berrien County residents. Brown himself brings 13-years of experience in the trade and has lived here his entire life.

As mechanical contractors to the region, they are signatory to Local Union 357, offering new construction, remodeling and repair of HVAC-R, plumbing, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, pipe fabrication, and custom metal fabrication options.

Additionally, LaPine offers backflow preventer testing and repair, boiler inspections and preventative maintenance for all HVAC-R equipment. They do not, however, service residential clients from the St. Joseph office, which is located in Suite #5 at 622 Langley Avenue.

The company has a solid reputation, having worked such major multi-million dollar projects as the Gun Lake Casino, both a dining hall and a residence hall on the Western Michigan University Campus, the expansion of Bell’s Brewery, the MPI Research facility in Mattawan, the Mattawan Later Elementary School, and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, among many others.
