Man Wanted in Pilot Travel Center Shooting in January is Target of Manhunt

A 17-year old man is the subject of a manhunt by Benton Township Police Detectives for his involvement in a shooting last January at the Pilot Travel Center at Napier and I-94 in the township.

Police have identified the man as Xzerio Ka’Shawn Coleman, and say his is believed to be the one responsible for a confrontation at the truck stop and is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding where to find Coleman is asked to contact the Benton Township Police Department at 269-926-3087 or on their Facebook page.

Detectives reported that an argument turned into gunfire back on Tuesday, January 19th, at the Pilot Travel Center on Napier Avenue at I-94, but fortunately nobody was hit in the incident. Nevertheless, police have been asking for help in following up on the case.

Benton Township Detective Sgt. Tyler Tiefenbach says his department was called out to the popular truck stop at 1860 E. Napier Avenue upon reports of shots fired inside the business. Officers found evidence in the store of shots being fire in the shop.

Authorities learned that two black men approached a couple of teens aged 17 and 18 and started an argument. The incident escalated to a point that gunfire erupted, but neither teen was hit.

Tiefenbach says the investigation is continuing.
