The groundbreaking has been held for a new fiberglass manufacturing facility coming to Cassopolis.

Fibrosan, Incorporated plans to produce fiberglass-reinforced plastic for RV manufacturers at the site, located in the MEC Smart Park, creating 35 new jobs.

Market One helped to bring the project to fruition, pointing the company toward the Smart Park as a good location for its operation. Market One’s Katie Multhauf tells us the park really is an asset for the village of Cassopolis.

This was a project that was in the works for many years, but paused and then picked backed up about over a year ago,” Multhauf said. “And the MEC smart park is absolutely a diamond in our region for attraction and site readiness.”

The MEC Smart Park is touted by Midwest Energy and Communications as a technology and industry hub offering suitable land for developers pursuing projects like Fibrosan’s. Multhauf says thanks to it and to the community, Cassopolis will benefit greatly from this development.

Oh my word, it’s a huge win and it’s absolutely going to, of course, strengthen our tax base. And then the next piece is the job creation and how it creates career pathways for not only right now, but generations to come.”

Fibrosan is a Turkish company, and this is its first facility in North America. Multhauf says because the company is family-owned, establishing trust and a partnership were essential in winning it over.

They’re family first, they’re relationship. They value partnership, but then with partnership is also relationship. And then with relationship is also trust. And throughout all of this process, this is what won the deal because that’s their value. And that’s also the heartbeat of the village of Cassopolis with Imagine Cass and that vision. And so it comes for full circle and these things become. At first it’s an opportunity, and then it becomes a reality because of the partnership, relationship, and trust.”

The company said at this week’s groundbreaking the project will start with the initial $16.8 million investment as Phase I, and then a later Phase II will greatly expand the facility’s footprint.
