Michigan State Medical Society Releases Statement On Federal COVID Vaccine Requirement

The Michigan State Medical Society has reacted to President Biden’s announcement of COVID-19 vaccination requirements for federal employees and the employees of large private companies. The Michigan State Medical Society represents around 15,000 doctors around Michigan. The following has been released by the Michigan State Medical Society:

The following is a public statement from Pino D. Colone, MD, president of the Michigan State Medical Society, in response to  President Joe Biden’s announcement Thursday of new federal Covid vaccine requirements for public and private employers.

“The physician community has had a single message since the approval of the Covid 19 vaccine earlier this year: getting vaccinated is the most important thing a person can do to protect themselves, those they love, and help end this pandemic.

“It is our hope that the announcement Thursday will lead more people to be vaccinated and encourage those who have questions about the vaccine and who have so far been hesitant to get the Covid 19 shot to contact their physician and ask any questions they
have.

“The medical community has learned an enormous amount about Covid 19, how to treat it, and how to prevent it. It is our job to share this information with our patients and help them make good decisions about their health and the health of those around them.

“Whether the vaccine is required or not, it is safe and it works. Getting it is the single best thing a person can do to survive Covid 19.”
