Kohles and Walker will host a Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce official ribbon cutting on Tuesday, September 18th at 5pm in Suite B at 4465 Red Arrow Highway in Stevensville, new home to their Great Lakes Financial Partners offices.
The team officially opened to the public back on the first of August, where Walker, who serves as Vice President of the firm, says, “We work as insurance brokers to find the best quality and price for clients,” adding, “Our services are for both individual as well as company benefits and policies.”

According to President, Michael Kohles, Stevensville’s Red Arrow Highway corridor proved the perfect location for the business saying, “Great Lakes Financial Partners was created with the intention of serving our local communities, we specifically chose Stevensville because it is a growing area close to St. Joseph and without a lot of Insurance and Financial firms in the community.”
A lifelong Michigan native with a love for the outdoors, golf, and traveling, Michael has two young children, and has held positions with several financial services related industries including real estate, banking, and insurance/investments. He says he is committed to serving his clients, local community, church, family, and friends.
Kohles is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative of Equity Services, Inc. and offers securities in both Michigan and Indiana. and is insurance licensed in the Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Colorado.
As Vice President of the firm, Joshua Walker lives in Mishawaka, Indiana with his wife of 25 years. He has two daughters and a grandson. Growing up on the West side of South Bend with his younger brother and single Mother in low income housing helped instill the value of hard work, honesty, and integrity in Joshua. From the time he was 16, he has studied various forms of martial arts, mainly as a form of personal development, which has likewise shaped the person he is, as well as his determination to help others with the highest levels of professional ethics. He holds a deputy black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 2nd degree black belt in Aikido. When time allows he enjoys fishing with his family.
During the great recession in 2009, Walker left his previous career to attend college at Indiana University South Bend, where he holds a General Studies Degree. Four years later, with several opportunities available to him, he began working as an agent with New York Life Insurance Company. After nearly 3 years as an agent, within one of the most robust training programs in the country, Mr. Walker made the decision to leave the agency at NYL.
By working as an Insurance Broker and Financial Advisor instead of an agent with a single company is able to help more people protect their families. His philosophy of helping people plan for their retirement came from his own experience and the lack of help he received with his own 401K, during his previous career. He wanted to assure that those who wanted to learn or obtain help could do so with every option available, not simply to those that pay the agent, advisor or planner the most.
