Berrien Community Foundation has moved their scholarship applications online and streamlined the process by offering one common online application for more than 50 opportunities totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
“Many of our applicants are juggling jobs, families and other responsibilities, and filling out dozens of applications can be challenging,” said BCF Program Director Susan Matheny. “With our new common application, students can fill out one application and be eligible for multiple scholarships!”
This change means students no longer need to turn in a hard copy of their applications to the Foundation. To begin the scholarship application process, visit www.berriencommunity.org/scholar. Applications are due March 1, 2023.
Scholarships are available for current high school seniors, early/middle college students, current college students, adults returning to the classroom and students going into the skilled trades. The common application means applicants only need to fill out one form, and applications are automatically submitted to all scholarships for which the student is eligible.
These scholarships are available primarily for Berrien County residents; however, there are some opportunities for Hartford High School graduates as well as students living in Cass, Van Buren, and St. Joseph counties. Scholarships are categorized based on a variety of factors, including: intended majors/career paths, extracurricular activities and financial need.
“Some students assume scholarships are only available for those with a perfect GPA,” Matheny explained. “In fact, most scholarships have a minimum 2.5 GPA requirement.”
