A new health-focused eatery has opened its doors in downtown St. Joseph. Evermore Juice Bar, co-owned by Jaime Rodriguez and his wife Ileana, officially began operations in October, offering the community what they call a fresh approach to nutrition.
Located in the heart of downtown at 319 State Street, Evermore Juice Bar’s menu features juices, smoothies, acai bowls, protein shakes, and all-day breakfast items including egg sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Rodriguez said the goal is to provide wholesome, nutritious options for residents and visitors who want healthy alternatives while enjoying the downtown area.
“We noticed there weren’t many healthy choices available in the area,” Rodriguez said. “We wanted to bring something nutritious for the community.” Ileana, a certified health and wellness coach, has long been passionate about healthy living, and the couple has shared that interest for more than a decade.
“It’s fine to have, from time to time, something sweet and something that you crave. But people are a little bit more conscious on the choices they make. And when you are there in the beach or walking in downtown, some people may want to have something healthy.”
Evermore is currently open Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the off season. Rodriguez says the business is fully staffed and ready to serve customers.
“We have been health enthusiasts living here in the area for 14 years. So when we saw the opportunity there during the summer, we decided to take it.”
To introduce the community to the new business, Evermore is hosting an open house this Saturday (November 15) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors can sample items from the menu, including acai bowls and yogurt parfaits. The first 25 guests will also have the chance to win free full-size menu items and other prizes.
Rodriguez says the open house is part of an effort to raise awareness about the new business and share the story behind Evermore.
Evermore occupies a space formerly used by Verde Juice Box, and Rodriguez said the previous owners were helpful during the transition. Verde’s operators announced the sale of their St. Joseph location in August, continuing to operate in their Benton Harbor location.
