Allegan's Perrigo continues to grow exponentially, this time through the acquisition of another national distributor of over-the-counter healthcare and consumer goods products. Plans for Perrigo to assume control of Geiss, Destin & Dunn, Inc. of Peachtree City, Georgia, were revealed this morning by Perrigo's CEO John Hendrickson.

Hendrickson says, "Today's acquisition of GDD, while relatively small in transaction value compared to other acquisitions we've made, further strengthens and diversifies our U.S. distribution and retail network, providing us direct access to the non-mass retail market." Geiss Destin & Dunn is a small national distributor of products bearing the GoodSense brand label sold in non-chain retail and institutional markets.

Hendrickson notes that Perrigo already distributes product to that same channel through GDD, he is pleased that Perrigo can now "bring the management of this business completely in-house." He adds, "We look forward to welcoming the GDD team to Perrigo and are committed to serving our customers and consumers across the globe with quality affordable healthcare products."

The deal to take over Geiss, Destin & Dunn is expected to close by the end of this month. The value of the deal was not disclosed by Perrigo officials.
