Popular Benton Harbor Motorsports Dealership Headed to the Auction Block

One of the most popular purveyors of “big boy’s toys” is headed to the auction block with everything from the motorcycles and personal watercraft to generators, trucks and trailers, three-wheelers, the shop tools, office supplies and the 10,000 square foot showroom itself slated to go to the highest bidder.

The iconic Harbor Sports & Cycle, which began decades ago as Harbor Honda, located at 2218 M-139 in Benton Harbor is destined to disappear forever following the Saturday, March 30th, 2019 complete and total auction of everything on site.

The popular sports dealership will hit the block at 10am on that Saturday morning, following a real estate deal that fell through late last year or early here in the new year. According to updates from the Harbor Sports & Cycle Facebook page, the business had been in transition until it either collapsed or was called off by one party or the other, and the last resort was to put the entire inventory, real estate, and items right down to the office gear, repair shop tools and everything on site in order to liquidate all assets.

The auction will be orchestrated by Big Bear Auctions and Southwest Real Estate and held on site at the M139 retailer. Interested parties are invited to inspect the sale options and inventory on Friday, March 29th from 10am until 2pm. The prime real estate location includes a 10,000 square foot showroom and office space, a 6,000 square foot storage building and the land they sit on. Those wishing to view the real estate prior to the auction are asked to contact Aimee Glassman with Southwest Real Estate for an appointment. She can be reached at 269-501-9732.  Additionally, a $25,000 deposit will be required at time of acceptance and possession will take place at closing.

For the auction itself, cash, check or credit cards will be accepted with proper identification, a 5-percent bp will be administered on all credit card purchases, and all sales are final.

Until the auction, the dealership has all new Can Am products for sale at invoice less the current rebate program until February 15th.

Harbor Sports & Cycle is a family-owned company that originally opened decades ago, growing over the years from being a Honda Power House dealership to offering Can-Am, Ski-Doo, and Sea-Doo products from Bombardier.

The auction notice on Facebook is garnering from comments of interest regarding specific items on the bid sheet to people expressing surprise, regret and sadness over the impending closure of the popular retailer. Stay tuned.
