Rapid Fire Quartet of Thieves Hit St. Joe AT&T Store in Pre-Dawn Break In

Police in St. Joseph are wondering if it was a professional hit job at the AT&T Store at 1021 Main Street in the city’s Uptown neighborhood early this morning.

St. Joseph Department of Public Safety Director Steve Neubecker says that his team responded to a pre-dawn alarm this morning at the store anchored at the intersection of Niles Avenue and Main Street. When his officers arrived seconds later they found a window on the entry door had been smashed out.

Authorities say that four suspects with masks over their faces entered the store and exited literally within 40-seconds stealing several display items in the process. Three “subjects of interest” were later taken into custody in Kentwood, Michigan outside of Grand Rapids.

Neubecker says that his unit’s investigation “is ongoing, and no further information will be given at this time.”

The rapid police response came following the alarm at 3:13am today, and St. Joe Police were assisted by St. Joseph Township Police and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

The entry door on the Niles Avenue side of the building is now boarded up, however there is a sign on it indicating that the store is open for business despite the early morning incident of breaking and entering.
