Travelers seeking to get to Southwest Michigan Regional Airport, the Benton Township Hall and other facilities by way of Crystal Avenue will find detours in place all week long this week as work began today on sewer repairs according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
MDOT's Nick Schirripa says Crystal Avenue is shutdown completely in both directions north of East Main Street which is also the I-94 Business Loop. There are no lane closures on the Business Loop itself, but no access to Crystal north of the loop will be available for the balance of the week while crews effect those sewer repairs in Benton Charter Township.
The posted detour for Crystal Avenue is on Territorial Road, North Euclid Avenue and Highland Avenue. The closure does not affect traffic south of the Business Loop, with Crystal open the full length south to Napier Avenue.
Authorities expect work to be completed and Crystal to be re-opened to regular traffic late on Friday, April 29th or early Saturday the 30th.
