Anybody who has ever hit the beach with a great summer book to read is giving a thumb's up to a nationwide story being shared by the Associated Press titled "Summer Reads Include Local Favorites and National Hits." The most enthusiastic response to the story locally, however, is undoubtedly the owner of a St.Joe shop profiled in the piece that hit the Washington Post yesterday. Robin Allen's Forever Books in downtown St. Joseph hit the big time thanks to the AP article and is thankful for the coverage.

The popular piece addresses the hot selling summer reads for 2016 through the eyes and cash registers of half a dozen book stores from coast-to-coast including the popular independent Forever Books in St. Joseph's central business district. The paragraph about the store and owner Robin Allen's recommendations for summer reading notes that "you can see Lake Michigan just by stepping out the back door."

Also profiled are Indigo Books on Johns Island, South Carolina…Books & Books in Coral Gables, Florida…Brewster Book Store on Cape Cod…Small World Books on the Venice Boardwalk in California…and Barnes & Noble with outlets "from Gulfport, Mississippi to the heart of Manhattan."

Each book store owner offers up great summer reads for beach-goers, cottage dwellers, and vacationers at the shore. As the title of the story foretells, there are national best-selling authors on the recommendation lists and localized authors and subject matter that ring up sales from eager readers.

Locally, Robin cites popular sales by Steve Hamilton, a native Michigander and crime writer, and Mary Kubica's thriller set in a Michigan harbor town similar to St. Joe, among others.

You can find Forever Books at 312 State Street in downtown St. Joseph alongside Oh My Darlings Children's Shop and across from the dime store. Here's a link to the Associated Press Story as picked up by The Washington Post:
