South Bend International to Host Wings for All Event

Fear of flying can be paralyzing when you don’t know what to expect. With that thought in mind, the crew at South Bend International Airport — or simply SBN — is partnering with Delta Air Lines, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Arc, and ADEC to host a Wings for All event on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 5:30pm. The free event gives families the chance to participate in a “rehearsal” flight to overcome anxiety associated with the challenges of flying.

The event will take families through the process of checking luggage, clearing security, boarding an airplane, and preparing for takeoff. People of all ages with extra needs are invited to participate in the event.

To properly prepare, families must register by April 26 by completing an online form which can be found by clicking this link:  http://bit.ly/2pgZu5V

Julie Curtis is South Bend International Airport’s Director of Marketing & Development. She says, “I have seen the success of this event and encourage any family that experiences anxiety when flying to participate.” She adds, “The Wings for All program will help families and individuals of all ages become comfortable navigating airports.”

South Bend International Airport’s three air carriers provide nonstop flights to ten cities:  Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York City/Newark, Orlando/Sanford, Phoenix/Mesa, and Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg with connections world-wide. South Bend International’s multi-modal terminal serves over one million air, rail and bus passengers each year. According to the 2012 Economic Impact Report from the Aviation Authority of Indiana, South Bend International’s total annual economic impact on South Bend and surrounding communities was in excess of $1.7 billion.
