Most of us probably anticipated this in the first place, but State Police officials with the State Emergency Management Office have confirmed that all Michigan State Government offices will remain closed for Thursday, January 31st.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer says, “The National Weather Service continues to predict dangerously cold sub-zero temperatures and the priority must continue to be on keeping people safe.” The Governor adds, “While keeping people safe, essential staff at state agencies will continue to make sure important government work gets done though office buildings are closed. Again, for your safety and the safety of our first responders, I urge all Michiganders not to take any unnecessary risks during this extreme weather.”

With the continuation of the historic emergency weather conditions impacting the state of Michigan, all state government offices will remain closed through 10pm tomorrow, Thursday, January 31st, 2019. Specified essential services will remain operational during the emergency.

The shutdown means that the Secretary of State’s branch office in Benton Harbor will remain closed again tomorrow, so those in search of driver’s license and license plate tab renewals will have to wait until Friday or take part in online registrations through the department’s link below:
