State Suspends Group Child Care Home License in Allegan County

Violations of the Child Care Organizations Act have led to the suspension of a group child care home license in Allegan County, and if the case proceeds, the license may be completely revoked in the near future.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) report this morning that they have summarily suspended and issued a notice of intent to revoke the group child care home license of Nancy Xenos, operating at 486 Earl Street in Otsego, for violations related to appropriate care and supervision.

LARA’s actions resulted from a February 11th, 2020 complaint investigation conducted at the group child care home. The investigation found violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules regarding group child care homes. LARA took emergency action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of children.

Effective February 11, 2020, the summary suspension order prohibits Xenos from operating a group child care home at 486 Earl Street in Otsego, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, she may not accept children for care after that date and time. The order also requires the licensee to inform all parents of children in her care that the license has been suspended and that she can no longer provide child care.
