Stonegate Manor Takes a Bow With June Open House

A stately, historic manor moves to center stage next week when Stonegate Manor of Benton Harbor throws open the doors onto an open house for anyone in the region in search of an intimate, first-class wedding reception venue or even for those who seek the opportunity to host parties, meetings and other private gatherings of a wide array.

On Sunday, June 11th, Stonegate Manor will host their Open House from 2pm until 4pm to celebrate the grand opening of their remarkable new space being unveiled for everyone to see at 2251 Riverside Road in Benton Harbor.

Located a quick 10 minutes north of St. Joseph, Stonegate Manor offers a complete event experience, inclusive of a Victorian estate suitable for small parties, a bridal cottage, a well-wishing pond, and private grounds with a total of  27 acres of woods, gardens, and more.

The Open House afternoon will feature live music, door prizes, light refreshments and a number of local wedding/event vendors who will be on hand to showcase what they each have to offer, and can bring to your table.  Stonegate Manor is the former site of the House of David Museum, and local historian Chris Siriano will be giving tours of this important and historic Berrien County estate.

Retired long-time Berrien County Family Court Judge Tom Nelson says, “We are so excited to show Southwest Michigan our new venue, where classic elegance meets country charm.”

Nelson and his wife, Prudy, a local pediatrician known for years as “Dr. Barrett” to hundreds of small children in Southwest Michigan are the owners of Stonegate Manor. She adds, “We have turned our retirement into an adventure!”

They developed a taste for the wedding industry when Prudy launched her business, My Mother’s Attic, a few years ago. My Mother’s Attic is a vintage china rental company, which supported an orphanage in Uganda with its profits.

As for the elegant Stonegate Manor, it was completed in 1847, and the beautiful estate has been transformed into one of the area’s most spectacular event venues. Stonegate Manor is a Victorian gem which offers couples the amenities of today, surrounded by the charm of a bygone era.

Indoor spaces feature custom characteristics such as original stained glass windows, marble fireplace, antique furnishings and decor, grand stairway, French doors, covered verandas and more.

Those who attend the open house may enter a drawing for a discounted event or a romantic weekend at the Manor House.
