Knowing which pesticides are approved and for which applications can be critical to the success of not only farmers and growers across Michigan’s Great Southwest, but to those performing lawn care services as well. To keep everyone in the loop and knowledgeable for safe application, the Michigan State University Extension office in Benton Harbor has slated a Restricted Use Pesticide Review Workshop for both private and commercial applicators next month.

That restricted use workshop will be held Thursday, March 12th, at the Berrien County Michigan State University Extension office located at 1737 Hillandale Road in Benton Harbor.

Registration, along with refreshments begin at 8:30 am that day, and the pest management review will be held from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. The Pesticide Applicator Core Manual is available on-line for purchase for $30.00 plus tax at the MSU Extension Bookstore at the link below:

An open exam period is scheduled in which all private and commercial exams will be administered by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development staff at 9:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center. Please note that the exam will run at the same time as the Review Workshop.  Michigan Department of Ag procedures require that applicants pay a separate exam fee ($50.00 private; $75.00 commercial) by check or money order – NO CASH — at the exam site.  Identification and renewal notices (for recertification exams) are also needed in order to take the test.  No exams will be given after 2:00pm.

For registration information, disability accommodations or questions, you can contact the Berrien County Michigan State University Extension office at (269) 927-5674.
