The Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber is getting ready to welcome a new business to the community.
Environmental consulting firm Point Blue is set to officially join the chamber at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, Jan. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 2600 S. Cleveland Avenue in St Joseph.
Founded by geologist Mark Seaman, Point Blue employs a team of geologists, engineers and other scientists specializing in helping clients reduce environmental risks while protecting natural resources.
“The people behind Point blue are not new to southwest Michigan, but the name and location are,” said Sarah Spoonholtz, director of membership and events for the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber. “They do fantastic work. … They are very knowledgeable, great experts for their industry.”
From the company’s website, Point Blue has expertise in the following areas:
- Property Transfer / Due Care
- Site investigation and remediation
- Storage tanks
- Brownfield programs
- Protecting natural resources
- Asbestos
- Vapor Intrusion
- Industrial Hygiene
Spoonholtz said Point Blue mostly serves the southwest Michigan and Kalamazoo area, and provide a much-needed service.
“There are multiple locations here [in southwest Michigan] – just because we were so large in manufacturing for so long – that are designated as Brownfield properties,” Spoonholtz said. “There’s not a ton of environmental-based companies [here] with the technology and abilities they have. We’re happy they’re here.”
