System Upgrade Will Close Lottery Claim Centers Friday

If you hit it big in the Michigan Lottery tonight or tomorrow make plans now to be patient because if you hop in the car and head for a Michigan Lottery Claims Center on Friday you’ll find the doors locked and the shades pulled.  They’ll be closed. While the drawings will continue on schedule on Friday, larger pay-offs are going to have to wait until Monday at the earliest.

The Michigan Lottery claim centers in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit, Livonia, Saginaw and Sterling Heights will all be closed on Friday, September 29th, while the Lottery’s accounting system is upgraded.

All regularly scheduled drawings will proceed on Friday, as planned, you just won’t be able to make a claim until Monday.

Because Lottery claim centers will be closed Friday, bank claim centers and Secretary of State offices also will be unable to process Lottery claims that day.

All Lottery offices will, however, reopen for business at 7:45am on Monday, October 2nd.

About 97 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets benefits the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers and vendors. In 2016, the Lottery provided a record $888.9 million to help support Michigan’s public schools. Since it began in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $20.5 billion to support public education.
