Thief Takes Large Stash of Cash From Berrien Liquor Store

Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputies are asking for help in finding the thief who smashed his or her way into a Buchanan Township liquor store and stole a substantial amount of cash from the business. In fact, they have made the week-old crime the Crime of the Week with Crime Stoppers.

Berrien County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Laughlin was dispatched to the Red Bud Liquor Store at 3213 W. Front Street in Buchanan Township shortly after the business was opening for the day on Wednesday, June 7th and discovered the break-in and robbery.

Laughlin has shared the surveillance camera photo that accompanies this story on Moody on the Market, and is asking the public for any information regarding the break-in. The only other thing police have told us is that the thief managed to steal a “large amount of U.S. currency,” in the robbery. The exact amount was not specified.

Crime Stoppers wants the person responsible for this breaking and entering and will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to their arrest. Crime Stoppers also pays cash rewards on other felony crimes and the capture of fugitives.

You can contact Crime Stoppers about this or any felony crime or fugitive, by submitting an anonymous tip online at www.michianacrimestoppers.com, or through a link on their Facebook page.  Or you can submit a tip through the same secure link using your smart phone.  Look for the free P3 Tips mobile app.  You can still call toll free at (800) 342-STOP, where you will be given a code number and they won’t ask your name.
