To Run a Successful Business You Must Know Your Numbers

knowyournumbers

Hearken back to when you first began formal learning. Among the first things you learned were your numbers. Parents, teachers, friends and others all stressed the need to learn your numbers. If you’re going to run your own business the best advice you can get from anyone is — you need to know your numbers.

The team at SCORE of Southwest Michigan wholeheartedly reinforces that message. You need to know your numbers. In fact, they will tell you that you don’t even need to be an accountant to run your business — but you do need to know your numbers. That’s the basis behind SCORE’s upcoming workshop with the Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance and the crew at Kinexus.

SCORE Advisors want you to know that in order to stay on-top of your business, there are key tax and accounting facts which you as a business owner and your key managers must understand. In this upcoming workshop you will learn:

  • The importance of separating your personal and business transactions…
  • The rules for filing self-employment taxes…
  • Pension options for small business owners…
  • Whether your are hiring an employee or an independent contractor…and,
  • Due diligence in monitoring for possible fraud or embezzlement.

The workshop presenter is Karen Brown, a recently retired CPA with over 30 years of experience and also a Certified SCORE Mentor.
