Spectrum Health Lakeland says its famous Veggie Van will make a stop in Hartford this month. The Veggie Van is a mobile food pantry that gives out bags of free fresh produce to anyone who stops by. It will be parked at Spectrum Health Lakeland Primary Care on South Center Street in Hartford from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 17. The event will be held drive-through style and those who come by should remain in their cars to ensure proper social distancing. A total of 100 bags will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The goal of the Veggie Van program is to ensure fruits and vegetables are available to people who otherwise have limited access to fresh produce. It’s made possible thanks to contribution from Spectrum Health and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids and the YMCA of Greater Michiana.
