Victims of Extended Stay Motel Fire Identified by Authorities

Police and fire officials have identified the victims of this morning’s tragic fire at the Cosmo Extended Stay Motel on M-139 at the I-94 interchange in Sodus Township as the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office extends thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of that family.

The victims have been identified as 26 year old Kiarre Samuel, 10 year old Marquise Thompson, 7 year old Gerome Randolph, 5 year old Samuel Curtis, 4 year old Savod Curtis, and 2 year old Avery Curtis.

One source tells us that the children were students at the Countryside Academy.

Four other individuals and four first responders were treated and released at Lakeland Medical Center for smoke inhalation.

The blaze drew a huge response from multiple departments including the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office…the Michigan State Police…the Saint Joseph Department of Public Safety…the Benton Township Police Department…the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety…the Sodus Township Fire Department…the Benton Township Fire Department…the Royalton Township Fire Department…the Lincoln Township Fire Department…Medic 1 Ambulance Service…Pride Care Ambulance Service…SMACAS Ambulance Service…and the American Red Cross.
