Watervliet’s Upcoming Flaherty Ice Bowl Will Benefit Feeding America West MI

Disc Golf fans have the opportunity this month to not only engage in a robust tournament involving their favorite sport, but to help feed needy families in our region at one and the same time.

Dave Brunsting, Co-Director of the Flaherty Ice Bowl reports that the Sand Ridge Disc Golf Club and Railhead Disc Golf will be hosting a disc golf tournament on Sunday, February 28th at Flaherty Park in Watervliet to benefit Feeding America West Michigan.

Play will begin at 10am that day and last through 5pm when winners of both raffle prizes and trophies will be awarded. As a fundraiser for Feeding America West Michigan, the same event last year managed to raise $1,300 for the food bank and this year Brunsting says that event organizers are looking to top $2,000. With matching donations from B&D Properties from Elkhart, Indiana and raffle prizes provided by Great Lakes Discs from Grand Rapids, the event is off to a good start in that fundraising endeavor.

Players of all skill levels are encouraged to attend and compete for the custom made trophies. Entry fees are just $25 for each player which gets you  a player pack and one round of 18 holes of disc golf.  Additionally, players may elect to purchase mulligans and can play as many rounds as possible for $5 per additional round where their best score for a single round will be the one that counts.
