Whirlpool Foundation Names SWM Sons & Daughters Scholarship Winners

For nearly 70 years now, a major tradition from the Whirlpool Foundation has been offering scholarships to select sons and daughters of the men and women who work for the appliance giant, and this year has kept the tradition alive.

The Whirlpool Foundation has announced the results of its 69th annual Sons and Daughters Scholarship local competition, offered this year to six Whirlpool Corporation families in the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor area. The award consists of three $24,000 scholarship awards payable over four years, two $2,500 honor awards, and one $1,000 incentive award. The honor awards are given to alternates selected from each employee group, while the incentive award encourages Whirlpool Corp’s sons and daughters to pursue additional education opportunities by granting awards to randomly selected applicants.

Whirlpool Foundation President Michael Todman says, “At Whirlpool Corporation, we believe that empowering our communities for success begins in the house and home, and part of that success is assisting in providing educational opportunities for young individuals to pursue their dreams.” He adds, “That’s why, for nearly 70 years, we’ve been proud to award area youth with educational assistance through the Whirlpool Foundation Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program.”
