Whirlpool Wins Prestigious Product Design Awards on Several Fronts

Emerging from rugged competition involving more than 5,500 products from designers and companies in 55 countries across the globe to win the coveted Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2019 is a major accomplishment reserved for only the most noteworthy design innovations. Knowing that certainly makes engineers, design techs and everyone else at Whirlpool lighter than air as they prepare for formal acknowledgement of their work in the manufacture of leading edge appliances for a global marketplace.

Benton Harbor-based Whirlpool will step up to the awards podium in Essen, Germany on July 8th to accept the high honor as maker of a Product Design Award winner for several innovations from the Whirlpool brand and Bauknecht as well.

The two brands are being recognized with the Red Dot Award for The W Collection four-door-refrigerator-freezer from Whirlpool, and Bauknecht’s Built-In Suite ovens and microwaves.

Neil Tunstall is Vice President of Products for Whirlpool’s European, Middle Eastern, African sector. He says, “We are truly honored to be recognized once again with the distinguished Red Dot Award for Product Design.

The W Collection’s four-door refrigerator/freezer features a polished aluminum blade and full-width black interface with an integrated pocket handle, wherein the doors open wide to a panoramic interior.

Bauknecht’s Built-In Suite includes the built-in oven, built-in oven with total steam, built-in microwave, compact steam oven and compact speed oven. They are all Wi-Fi equipped allowing you to download recipe settings and dispatch them to the appliances for better control of cooking times.

The Red Dot Awards program is one of the world’s largest design competitions.
