World Renowned Scientist Up Next for SWM Econ Club

One of the inherent tendencies of human beings is to always seek the easy way out. We are ever in search of whatever pill will help us achieve our dreams without the traditional hard work and elbow grease to get the job done. Physicist Michio Kaku is the next speaker in the current series at The Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan and even he has wondered about the potential for a pill to make us smarter.

In his book, “The Future of the Mind,” Kaku discusses practical telepathy, artificial memories implanted in the brains of stroke and Alzheimer’s victims, and even that proverbial pill to make us smarter, suggesting all could be in store for our brains. The world-renowned scientist and best-selling author will share more about the life-changing breakthroughs in brain research when he addressed The Future of the Mind with Economic Club members and guests on April 20th at Lake Michigan College.

Kaku’s presentation, which is open to members and the public alike, will be held at The Mendel Center on the Napier Campus of Lake Michigan College at 2755 E. Napier Avenue in that evening. Public ticket choices include Grand Upton Hall Dinner at $85 per ticket, Grand Upton Hall Speaker-Only tickets for $65 per ticket, or Mainstage Theatre pricing at $50 per ticket.

Kaku is recognized for his authoritative work in two areas. The first is his goal to complete Einstein’s dream of a “theory of everything” that will summarize all the physical laws of the universe. The other is using the latest scientific research to predict trends affecting business, commerce and finance.

He has been a theoretical physics professor at City University of New York (CUNY) for almost 30 years. As co-founder of the string field theory, a branch of string theory, Kaku’s work is the leading candidate for the theory of everything.

His futurist knowledge is reflected in his three The New York Times best sellers, “Physics of the Future,” “Physics of the Impossible” and his latest book, “The Future of the Mind,” which illuminates astonishing research in neuroscience and physics and how they’ll change peoples’ lives. A frequent guest on international radio and TV shows, Kaku has also appeared in major science specials and the Emmy-nominated “Me and Isaac Newton.”

This erudite speaker will intrigue local audiences with his science-fiction-becoming-reality revelations and leave them breathless for tomorrow.
