Bosch to Host Upton NAM Award

With a substantial number of manufacturers keeping the economy moving in Michigan's Great Southwest, it's little wonder that the National Association of Manufacturing is taking time out next week to recognize Congressman Fred Upton for his support of policies that are critical to the success of manufacturing not only here in Michigan, but across the United States.

Scott Winchip is the Regional President of Chassis Systems Control for the Robert Bosch Corporation. He will welcome Congressman Upton to the Bosch plant at 3737 Red Arrow Highway south of St. Joseph next Monday morning for ceremonies honoring Upton as a winner of the National Association of Manufacturers Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence.

The award from the Washington D.C.-based association is an annual recognition for those members of Congress who have maintained a 70-percent or better voting record on the organization's pro-growth, pro-manufacturing agenda. The non-partisan association is the nation's largest industrial trade association, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states.

Out of 46 key votes tracked by the National Association of Manufacturers, Fred Upton only voted contrary to their advocacy on one issue, and that was in regard to a truck weight amendment in the U.S. House of Representatives. That left him with a year-end composite score in the 114th Congress of 98-percent.

The 6th District Republican lawmaker will receive the award from Winchip at Bosch in 10:30am ceremonies on Monday morning, October 3rd according to the association planning the award presentation.
