The thrill and excitement of endurance events such as triathlons and road races can now be experienced by a whole new audience in our region thanks to the overwhelming commitment of a small, but powerful, team of accountants and staff members from the St. Joseph office of Plante Moran. Already perennial winners among the Best Places to Work balloting, St. Joe's Plante Moran team has achieved a dream that they all voted to support.
There are 19 staff members in the St. Joseph office of the accounting agency and they voted to support the cause of myTEAM TRIUMPH of Southwest Michigan whose mission is to provide an athletic ride-along program for children, teens, adults and veterans with disabilities who would not normally be able to experience such endurance events as triathlons and road races.
Nationwide, Plante Moran engages annually in their PM Cares initiative, connecting staff members to opportunities that increase the well-being of individuals in each of the firm's local communities.
Through the innovative use of Jeans Days, craft projects, and various inter-office contests on top of the volunteer work for myTEAM TRIUMPH with local marathons and triathlons, Plante Moran's smallest office in St. Joseph managed not only to raise $8,000 here in Berrien County — they also won a competition firm-wide that kicked in an additional $5,000 donation from corporate headquarters.
Kenley Penner is Managing Partner for the St. Joseph office. He tells us, "With a long-held 'We Care' internal motto that drives the firm's approach to clients, staff and the community, giving is part of Plante Moran's DNA." He adds, "Our staff was happy to support a local organization that's enriching the health and well-being of individuals in our community. It's something we're proud to be part of."
Plante Moran's donation was used toward a racing chair, as seen in the photo with staff members, that will allow those with disabilities to participate in events like triathlons, 10ks, 5ks, marathons and half-marathons.
Plante Moran's local accounting team is anchored in the Edgewater District at 511 Renaissance Drive in St. Joseph.
