Stevensville Chiropractic on the Move

When Dr. Christopher Schultz was growing up in the Stevensville area, the Village Square was a pretty big deal. He considered that large expanse of retail and service-oriented businesses to be the epicenter for the community. Now he wants to be a pioneer in helping return that center to its former glory. Dr. Schultz is in the process of renovating a building there to which he will relocate his successful chiropractic practice some time next month.

Schultz is a 1995 graduate of Lakeshore High School who launched his chiropractic career in 2003, and moved back to the area five years ago. In February of 2012, the good doctor established the Stevensville Chiropractic Center, currently located at 1733 W. John Beers Road in Stevensville.

Having purchased and then stripped his new building down to the bare stud walls in order to accomplish a complete makeover, Dr. Schultz is hopeful that his project will be a catalyst to join Watermark Brewing Company and others who have recently set up shop in downtown Stevensville to jumpstart the local economy and revitalize the central business district.

While he is renovating the 2,400 square foot space at 2640 W. John Beers Road, he has garnered the support of the Stevensville Village Council who voted last week to approve a commercial rehabilitation tax abatement for 10 years for his project which will also produce 1,400 square feet of space available for rent to like-minded businesses willing to be a part of the renaissance he'd like to see. The Village Council vote will freeze Schultz' property tax level while he rehabilitates the building.

Dr. Schultz' wife, Stacie — also a Lakeshore High grad from 1996 — says they are hopeful of achieving the relocation before the end of October. They told the Village Council that as they watched Watermark and others stepping up to the plate, they wanted to play a role, too. They've been paying rent for the site in Lincoln Township, and wanted to own their own space. He told the council he'll be investing roughly $100,000 in his new building in the remodeling process.

Stay tuned for the move-in date, and other grand opening information for the relocation of Stevensville Chiropractic Center.
