Golfing Great Jack Nicklaus Returns to Harbor Shores Friday

The man whose name is on the signature golf course that is the home to the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship will return to his Harbor Shores Resort for the first time in half a dozen years this week, as the resort community makes yet another major announcement.

Golf’s greatest champion and acclaimed designer Jack Nicklaus will return  to Harbor Shores for the first time in six years during this year’s Championship for a new community announcement honoring his work as a World Golf Hall of Fame player and designer of the host venue. Nicklaus and his wife Barbara will be joined by the PGA of America Friday afternoon at 1pm along with Whirlpool Chairman Jeff Fettig.

Nicklaus, the record 18-time Major Champion and Designer of Harbor Shores and his wife will be on hand with PGA of America President Paul Levy and Jeff Fettig for a presentation of the improbable tale of the development of the Jack Nicklaus Signature  Golf Course at Harbor Shores Resort, which brought a Major Championship to Benton Harbor, Michigan, just two years after opening.

For the first time in six years, Nicklaus will visit Benton Harbor to see firsthand the continued growth and change in the community since he first conceptualized Harbor Shores.

To celebrate Nicklaus’ impact on Michigan’s Great Southwest, Whirlpool Corporation and the PGA of America will reveal a new community program that pays tribute to Barbara and Jack Nicklaus.

The event, hosted by Julius Mason of the PGA of America will entail a press conference in the Media Center Interview Room at Harbor Shores at 1pm on Friday. Stay tuned for more.
