What’s the best advice you ever got?
While I was in optometry school, my mom shared a quote by Nelson Mandela that stuck with me: ‘It always seems impossible until it’s done.’ It reminded me that challenges are only temporary, and with perseverance, any goal can be achieved.

Who inspires you most?
My sister and her constant commitment to growth. She’s always seeking to improve—whether it’s through self-reflection, educational podcasts, or new experiences. She’s a lifelong learner who approaches life with curiosity and drive. What stands out most is her ability to truly listen and offer thoughtful, meaningful advice. She works incredibly hard and is a smart, accomplished woman who excels in her field. Her example motivates me to push myself and keep growing.

That one thing about you we’d be most surprised to learn.
I started university pursuing a degree in interior design.

What do you love to do in your downtime?
I love to sew because it gives me both creative freedom and the satisfaction of making something practical.

What book are you reading now?
Compassionomics – evidence that caring makes a difference

Volunteer activity you love the most.
I’ve always had a deep passion for caring for the elderly. During my time at Central Michigan University, one of my most meaningful experiences was volunteering with the ‘Adopt-a-Grandparent’ program, which paired students with local seniors for weekly visits. Now, in St. Joseph, I continued this connection through the Called to Care ministry at First Congregational Church, where I’ve had the opportunity to once again build relationships with elders in the community.

What motivates you to give back to your community?
I believe strong communities are built when we show up for one another, and I want to contribute to that strength. Giving back allows me to not only make a positive impact but also to set an example for my child about the importance of compassion, service, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

What Superpower would you most love to have?
I would pick the ability to know all languages. It would be amazing to be able to communicate with anyone.

What would you like to leave behind as your legacy once you are gone?
I hope to leave behind a legacy that teaches my son the value of hard work and the importance of pursuing a career he truly loves. When you’re passionate about what you do, everything else tends to fall into place. I want him to see that showing up with a smile and a grateful heart not only brings fulfillment but also makes it easier to serve others with kindness and purpose.

What does the honor of being named to the 40 Under 40 most mean to you?
My husband and I discovered Southwest Michigan in 2021, and it quickly felt like home. We bought our first house here and are now raising our family in this beautiful, welcoming community. I feel incredibly fortunate to call St. Joseph home. It brings me great joy to be recognized by a place that means so much to me.
