The ranks of the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation Distinguished Alumni already include a former Miss America…a former NFL star…an ABC Television Journalist…a bank president and more. Perhaps you know of someone worthy of taking home a Distinguished Alumni Award for 2018, and if so, the foundation’s committee would love to hear from you.

Attorney Bob Ehrenberg is Chair of the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award Committee. He and his colleagues are seeking nominations for the 2018 award and are asking for your help in the nomination process.

Founded in 2012, the award honors exemplary St. Joseph High School Alumni who have excelled in their professions locally, nationally, and internationally, and have made significant contributions to their communities. Past honorees include Rob Fredrickson of the NFL, Nina Davuluri who went on to become Miss America, Dr. William Emery, esteemed local physician and educator, Rick Dyer from Edgewater Bank,  and Jay Schadler of ABC Television.

According to Ehrenberg, “With only 18 award recipients to date, our Distinguished Alumni honorees are members of a group of exceptional alumni, who have excelled in their career paths and contributed to the betterment of their communities and, in many cases, our nation.”

The St. Joseph Public School Foundation serves as the academic “booster club” for the school district. It was founded in 1996 in response to the passage of Proposal A, which transferred school funding away from local communities to Lansing, leaving a shortfall in funds to support the programming that has established the St. Joseph district as one of the best in Michigan. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed more than $2 million dollars to support academic programming throughout the district. As Foundation President William Marohn says, “great schools make great communities.  With the generous support of our donors, we are making a difference.”
