Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren

Southwest Michigan’s ninth grade students are preparing themselves for their future careers.  Help guide these young adults as they navigate Michigan’s 6 Career Pathways during the 2019 Berrien County Career Pathway Day as an industry representative!  The event will be held on Friday, November 15 at the Mendel Center on the campus of Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year we are opening the event to include Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren county students with a goal of 2,000 or more students participating in interactive, hands-on activities that will allow them to explore career pathway options within the region. These pathway experiences will guide students as they begin their employment journey starting with Career & Technical Education in high school followed by post-secondary opportunities; eventually leading into local industry careers.

As an industry representative, please consider showcasing your business’ career opportunities to students. Representatives will be expected to:

  • Provide hands-on, interactive career specific exhibits throughout the day,
  • Represent the occupations your business employs by inviting individuals from multiple departments/divisions to be available at your booth,
  • Highlight the benefits of working in that career field, industry, company, region, etc.; and,
  • Offer firsthand career guidance geared specifically to high school students.

By the end of Career Pathway Day, students should have a better understanding of what opportunities are available within the local community, and how to take advantage of those opportunities as they proceed through high school and onto their post-secondary careers.
