Newly Renovated SH Big Boy Cuts the Ribbon Next Week

The checkered Big Boy statue has been a part of the local landscape in South Haven since 1997, and now the franchise owner wants to invite everyone to check out the major makeover completed late last year as he celebrates his Grand Re-Opening next Wednesday, April 11th.

Brian Smith is proud to showcase one of Big Boy Restaurants’ newest fully-renovated franchises located at 261 73rd Street in South Haven.

Smith and his Big Boy team have been serving diners since 1997, and having completed his major renovation in late 2017, he’s swinging open the doors to the community at large. Smith says, “We did a total exterior renovation, and also completely updated the dining room and bathrooms.” Brian has been a Big Boy franchisee for over 25 years, and he adds, “We’ve had a very positive response – diners love the more open look and flexible seating.”

Smith will host a formal ribbon-cutting celebration, planned for 11am on April 11th, and will offer a special one-day price of $2.99 on the Big Boy Double-Deck Cheeseburger and a Pepsi product. Cosy Radio — WCSY — will be broadcasting live on 103.7FM, and a portion of the grand re-opening revenue will be donated to several local charities, including the Al-Van Humane Society and South Haven Area Emergency Responders, also known by their initials of SHAES.

The restaurant location also offers daily blue-plate specials and a weekend breakfast bar, and will be kicking off their Fresh Strawberry Festival on Monday, as part of the big celebration.

Since 2014, Big Boy Restaurants International LLC has invested over $20 million into new and remodeled restaurants and new franchises. Big Boy continues to actively seek out franchisees in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Florida to franchise Big Boy, Big Boy’s Burgers and Shakes and the Big Boy Food Truck concepts.

There are 16 new and remodeled restaurants to date in addition to the one in South Haven, including locations in Rochester, Novi, Livonia, Brighton, Woodhaven, and Imlay City. Three to four franchise remodels are expected in the course of the next year. There are also three new restaurants in Petoskey, Gaylord, and Mayfield Heights, OH.

Big Boy is a diner-inspired restaurant serving what they self-describe as “authentic, yet original American comfort food.” Big Boy Restaurants International LLC is based in Warren Michigan, right outside of Detroit. The company operates and franchises 84 Big Boy, Bob’s Big Boy and Big Boy’s Burgers and Shakes restaurants in Michigan, Ohio, California and North Dakota. The company has been owned by Robert Liggett Jr. since 2000.
