Top Fitness Educator Joins YMCA SWM Fitness Jam 2019

A key educator from one of the hottest fitness groups in America will join local aficionados soon at the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA’s Fitness Jam 2019, and serious enthusiasts can even earn continuing education credits for taking part in the event which is open to the public at large.

On Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th, the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA will host Fitness Jam 2019. It’s two days of fitness and fun that will be led by Irene McCormick, Senior Director of Fitness Education for Orangetheory Fitness, a dynamic group based in Florida.

Fitness Jam will consist of:

  • Two workshops: Aqua Bootcamp Circuit and TReXcellence Suspension Training
  • A lecture: Elevate Your Group Coaching Skills
  • A masterclass: Warm Up! Self-Massage for Pre and Post Workout.

The workshops and lectures are designed for fitness instructors to earn up to 0.7 ACE (American Council on Exercise) Continuing Education Credits to renew current certifications. The masterclass is open to anyone interested.

Warm Up! Self-Massage for Pre and Post Workout will focus on quick and effective pre- and post-workout self-myofascial release routines that are perfect for an optimal warm-up and post-workout recovery, using tennis balls and foam rollers. The results are immediate and long-term and important for pre-workout preparation and post-workout flexibility. The masterclass fee is $10/participant.

Irene McCormick is the Senior Director of Fitness Education for Orangetheory Fitness. She is the 2018 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year, a twice-published author, adjunct faculty, an award-winning conference educator and keynote speaker.

Irene holds an M.S. in Physiology from Iowa State University, is faculty for SCW Fitness, Lead Conference Educator for WaterRower a master course instructor for TRX, RumbleRoller, Power Systems, and Savvier Fitness; a RYKA Brand Ambassador and SME for OTF, NASM and ACE. Irene is featured talent in dozens of DVD’s, articles and podcasts and has written 18 educational manuals. Her certifications include ACSM, NSCA, ACE, NASM, AFAA, TRX & AEA.
