With the current volumes of traffic, there likely won’t be many delays for a while, nevertheless, repair work gets underway on Monday near South Haven as the Michigan Department of Transportation launches I-196 bridge repairs over the Van Buren Trail.
MDOT tells us that the work being undertaken includes an epoxy overlay, bridge railing replacement, substructure patching, guardrail replacement, and repaving of the approach.
The work begins on Monday, April 6th and is slated to be complete by Saturday, August 15th.
The repairs are being performed to extend the service life of the I-196 bridge over the Van Buren Trail.
One lane of I-196 will remain open in each direction throughout the construction process.
