New Telephone Hotline From PACE Helps Seniors Maintain Independence

At a time when everyone needs to be connected in some way or other to remain safe during a global pandemic, even elderly adults wishing to maintain some semblance of independence by remaining in their own homes are gaining a new tool to help keep support systems close at hand.

PACE is offering older adults interested in aging in their own homes and communities a new resource for finding the ongoing physical and practical supports they need. It comes in the form or a new statewide toll-free number, designed to help respond and connect individuals and families with PACE programs in their own communities.

The (877) 2MI-PACE hotline will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, excluding holidays. A new voice mail system will be available after hours, with calls returned the next scheduled business day.

Stephanie Winslow, Executive Director of the PACE Association of Michigan, says, “Very often, PACE provides a valuable alternative to a nursing home,” and adds, “Understanding what PACE offers and how to access those services is an important first step, and this hotline will make a huge difference for people who are beginning to explore their options.”

The confidential hotline will help ensure information is accessible and understandable, and that all interested individuals and families can get the follow-up support they need.

The hotline is now operational, already live, and accepting calls.
