A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, “Fly Me to the Moon”, will be presented at the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor on September 9th at 8pm. Featured are the Lake Effect Jazz Big Band, Andrew Fisher & Rebecca Selvidge, vocalists, and the Citadel Dance Companies. The 8pm show will feature two sets highlighting the music of Frank Sinatra and similar music from the ‘Golden Age Songbook’. Audience and performers alike will experience a “jazz night club” atmosphere in the Grand Upton Hall.
The Lake Effect Jazz Band is a 22-piece big band led by Steven Reed, a long-time area performer and retired music educator. Lake Effect Jazz Big Band performs over ten summer concerts and is the headliner at the South Haven Jazz Festival. Andrew Fisher teaches voice at the Citadel and leads the Andrew Fisher Quartet. Rebecca Selvidge is Director of Choirs/Music Lecturer at Lake Michigan College. The Citadel Dance Companies are Citadel’s premier dance ensembles led by Lari Lawrence-Gist, Director of Dance. A “radio style” intermission will also feature some of Andrew Fisher’s Citadel voice students.
