Reminder: Monday Deadline for Holiday Food Sharing Program Applications

The Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency is reminding deserving families of the Monday deadline for this year’s Holiday Food Sharing Program.

The Holiday Food Sharing Program collects and distributes approximately 400 food boxes and turkeys to Benton Harbor, Benton Township and St. Joseph residents and families each year. Since the program’s founding in 2015, the SMCAA has helped more than 2,800 families in the area.

Families may apply to be recipients of the Food Sharing Program now through Monday, December 18, 2023. Applications may be picked up at several local organizations, including:

Applicants will receive immediate notification of eligibility and, if eligible, pick-up instructions for the day of the event. Food boxes and turkeys will be distributed to families on Thursday, December 21 from 2:30-4:00 p.m.

The Holiday Food Sharing Program is sponsored by the City of Benton Harbor, Whirlpool Corporation and the PGA of Ameria. Together, these organizations are working to help those in need this holiday season.
