Weddings and special events are becoming big business in Michigan’s Great Southwest.  Another event venue is being unveiled this week, with help from the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber, hosting a ribbon cutting and open house this Sunday.  The location is one you might remember, but likely won’t recognize in its new ‘dressed up’ incarnation.  We learn the details in this announcement from the Chamber:

Tucked in next to the St. Joseph River, the serene beauty of what is now known as ‘The Boardwalk’ stands out as a must-see destination for weddings and gatherings. The former Fraternal Order of Police lodge on Dillar Rd off M-139 has undergone a 2+ year dedicated renovation and transformation by husband-and-wife team of Matt & Kathryn.

After returning to the area during COVID, Kathryn discovered the property and had multiple “what if” discussions with Matt which ultimately led to the two purchasing the property and beginning the renovations. Together, they balance Matt’s years of IT and construction background with Kathryn’s design vision to bring a new guest experience to Southwest Michigan. Surrounded by 400+ acres of woods and farmland, The Boardwalk boasts a completely secluded private space on the riverfront with a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces to host celebrations in comfort and style.

“Our hope is that with each upgrade and addition we make, it becomes easier and easier for our couples, guests and our vendors to enjoy, and removes some of the traditional stress that leads up to showtime,” says Matt.

An open house on Sunday, June 16th from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. will include appetizer and dessert selections from Chef Alexander Gandia, drinks from featured local wineries, and live music throughout the afternoon.

At 3:00 p.m. the ribbon-cutting celebration, hosted by the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber will showcase the grand opening of a new 3,000+ square foot outdoor riverfront garden pavilion to comfortably host 250+ guests.  This stunning and versatile new 3-season garden pavilion is the only one of its kind in the region and perfectly pairs with the new pergola that doubles as an outdoor dance floor and hanging gardens.

“We hope those who join us during our open house fall in love with The Boardwalk, just as we did upon seeing it. It has been a true dedicated labor of love and we’re excited to share the fresh changes with each guest that steps on to the property,” adds Kathryn.

Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP at this link riverboardwalk.com/upcoming-events/openhouse to secure a ticket on the guest list.

For those unable to attend on Sunday, there will be a limited Preview Day on Saturday, June 15th from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. that will primarily feature guided tours of the grounds.
