A fundraiser is set for this Saturday to help the St. Joseph Public Schools Performing Arts program raise money for its 2026 trip to Italy.

Brad Hurlbutt is a volunteer for the Taste of Italy dinner this weekend and tells us this will be a chance for anyone to get a great meal. About 35 students are taking part.

“They will be preparing and cooking and serving three different kinds of lasagna on Saturday night,” Hurlbutt said. “They will have a meat lasagna, a spinach artichoke lasagna, and a meatless lasagna.”

They’ll also serve minestrone, salad, and breadsticks. Hurlbutt asks the community to help send those kids to Italy next year.

“Hopefully you can come out and help support these kids. They’re trying to do everything they can do to raise the funds for the cost of their trip.”

The meal will also feature a silent auction with items donated by St. Joseph area businesses. The available items include gift baskets, gift certificates to restaurants, and some items from Whirlpool.

The fundraising dinner will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph High School.

Tickets are $20, and you can get them online. Hurlbutt says you can also get tickets at the door.
